Dr. Mitchell Proffman

My mission is to provide the highest quality chiropractic care in a relaxed and friendly environment. Using many natural healing systems, including exercise physiology, applied kinesiology, meditation, nutrition, stress management and yoga, I help bring balance to a patient’s body, mind and spirit. My approach is holistic and very comprehensive. I will refer a patient to the proper professional if they require additional care that I believe is needed.

  • Education: Queens College, B.A. 1977, New York Chiropractic College, D.C. 1980; Continuing Education Courses in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology; Advanced Training in Applied Kinesiology
  • Special Awards: Certificate of Merit from the President of the New York Chiropractic College for services to the community and the college. Diplomat of Chiropractic Examiners
  • Lecturer: Lectured extensively to various groups and organizations about Chiropractic and natural health care. Appeared on TV and radio shows discussing health and positive lifestyle changes.

Dr. Proffman was the Chiropractor at the Healing Center in Manhattan for four years. The Healing Center was an alternative health center where various modalities, e.g. acupuncture, massage, podiatry. nutritional counseling, etc. were used.

Chiropractor in Medical Triage for the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Group

The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team was formed in 1977 by students of the Indian meditation master, author, poet and philosopher Sri Chinmoy. A champion athlete in the Indian spiritual community where he had lived for 20 years before coming to America, Sri Chinmoy felt that sport was a natural aid to well being.

Volunteer/Chiropractor providing adjustments for guests of The Church of the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen

Founded in 1982, the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen is currently the largest emergency feeding program in New York City and in the Episcopal Church nationally. Housed within the nave of the Church, the Soup Kitchen serves over 1,200 meals every weekday and offers counseling and referral services to help the guests break the cycle of hunger, poverty, and despair.
